Dr Sketchy's Midweek Session with Vixyn Von Trix

This early June session was a) my first session since March 2014, I think, and b) my first evening out alone in a very long time. Going to Sketchy's, often alone, used to be a monthly thing for me but good habits have slipped away in the past year. But I'm now set on getting my ass out to Sketchy's for at least one of the sessions each month.

This was also the first life drawing I've done in over a year. I'm so glad my skill didn't just melt out of my hands with all the note-taking, essay writing and exams I've done in the last year.

I'll stop blabbing now and show you some pretty pictures. Vixyn Von Trix was marvellous, holding a 20 minute standing pose like a true pro! And she looked spectacular in her 20s flapper get up. This was a midweek session, so it was done in the round.

Comic Sketchbook - Digital Download

Girl Parts characters

I don't think this comic is going to happen for awhile, if at all. Since Leeds I've had bursts of inspiration and motivation but it seems to have faded a little. The story is personal so I think that is what's holding me back. I'm going to focus my energy on Casket Case, a 20 page comic (with the first 6 issue arc planned) instead of the graphic novel this was to be. It may still happen but for now I have some drawings and characters I'm pretty pleased with. 

Dr. Sketchy's Dublin 2nd Birthday

...and very almost my 22nd. Only a few hours til Sunday now.
W00t, and so on..

I was kinda shocked by how happy I was with my work from this session. I usually fill a heck load of pages and end up only happy with one or two drawings. This month I had a little bit of whatever that elusive 'it' is. I think. I also had a shiny new sketchbook (which I had liberated from my dad - shh) and it was just too nice to not fill with pretty things!

This month's Sketchy's theme was Miss Havisham, the ghostly Dickens character from 'Great Expectations'. Blue Ruin and PostModern Sleeze perfectly embodied the eerily beautiful and haunting theme. Entertainment was provided by the very lovely Lady K & Ruby Noir and their musical stylings. Wonderful day as per usual, all running smoothly with Scarlett Nymph at the helm.

And the unforgiving sunny heat was kept at bay with some nice air conditioning. Ahh.

So, now I'll be quiet and post some photos.

Dr. Sketchy's - February

Now to confuse my blog with the date switch! This is some of the best from last month's Dr. Sketchy's session. It was Tank Girl themed and I lovvered it! It starred Emily Aoibheann a.k.a. Blackbird as everyone's favourite tank loving girl and Jimmy Trigger as her dog-kangaroo-human hybrid boyfriend, Booga. I wasn't as happy with a lot of these, but I do like the last one. I was better prepared this month.

Dr. Sketchy's - March

Today I went to my second of Dublin Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School session, which is quickly becoming a staple of my monthly goings-on. Last month was Tank Girl themes - what a perfect first experience! I'll post those photos in the next post, just to be confusing...

March's theme was superheroes, featuring the very pink and sparkly Pixie Spitfire as The Pink Crusader and Jonas Wal as the handsome and bespectacled Clark Kent and later Superman. Roxy Rhinestone, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, also gave us a brilliant performance. Anyhow, these are the best of what I done today.
