Portfolio Results

Okay, now that I have heard back from every college I've applied to, I thought I'd share the results here. I have already put down my deposit for Ballyfermot to do Illustration for the next two years, so I'm already covered. But whatever I'm offered, I'll take and defer a year. After the college issues I've gone through before I want to make sure I keep my options open!

NCAD
500/1000
Most places are out of 600 but NCAD is awkward. Anyhow, I'm on the waiting list.

DIT
Fine Art - 500/600
Visual Communications - 500/600

IADT
Animation - 240/600
Photography - 120/600 -- didn't pass
Visual Communications - 270/600
Fine Art 300/600
Modelmaking, Design & Digital Effects - 330/600
Costume Design 600/600
Make-Up Design 600/600

I'm a little disappointed with IADT since I really love that college and I had expected more from Fine Art. But, I cannot say I'm at all saddened by the final two results. 100% of points?! What?

The CAO change of mind is open now so I can switch the order around. I'm thinking of putting Fine Art in DIT or Make-Up Design in IADT first. Make-Up was my dream course and is still near the top of my list! So, I'll see... *thinky*... but at least I'm sorted for now!

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School - April

So, today was my third Dr. Sketchy's session and it was just as fabulous as the last two! And a major win for me - apart from a cupcake, huzzah! - was getting there on time. Previously I was met with rain, late busses, traffic and an all too close encounter with a pidgeon while making my way to The Good Bits! In fact, I was there with enough time to get a seat with a great view to boot!

This month's theme was the Seven Deadly Sins, at least it's Part I of it. It featured Spunky Gore as Wrath and Fawnya Frolic as Lust, both filling their roles to a T. As usual, we were treated to some performances. Today's came in the form of Vixyn Sedition (of Sedition Industries) and her debut solo performance which was like hell unleashed through ballet. Also performing was Emily Aoibheann (Dr. Sketchy's own Tank Girl from February) as St. Blackbird with her delightfully un-saintly act.

I'm really happy with a lot of these, each time I go I'm getting better. I really can't wait for next month's since it's not only Dr. Sketchy's birthday spectacular, but the session will be the day after my 21st! Yay!

Before the pictures, here's a link to my Dr. Sketchy's article from last month on Geek Girl on the Street! :)

This one got me a cupcake, thanks to Spunky's choice :)

Dr. Sketchy's - February

Now to confuse my blog with the date switch! This is some of the best from last month's Dr. Sketchy's session. It was Tank Girl themed and I lovvered it! It starred Emily Aoibheann a.k.a. Blackbird as everyone's favourite tank loving girl and Jimmy Trigger as her dog-kangaroo-human hybrid boyfriend, Booga. I wasn't as happy with a lot of these, but I do like the last one. I was better prepared this month.

Dr. Sketchy's - March

Today I went to my second of Dublin Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School session, which is quickly becoming a staple of my monthly goings-on. Last month was Tank Girl themes - what a perfect first experience! I'll post those photos in the next post, just to be confusing...

March's theme was superheroes, featuring the very pink and sparkly Pixie Spitfire as The Pink Crusader and Jonas Wal as the handsome and bespectacled Clark Kent and later Superman. Roxy Rhinestone, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, also gave us a brilliant performance. Anyhow, these are the best of what I done today.

Hartigan & Nancy Callahan

I drew this (with a loverly inky pen) from a Sin City still and have just finished carving out my very first lino block with this image - stabbed myself pretty badly in doing so, too! I have a picture on my phone but since my email is refusing to work with me you'll have to take my work for it at the mo... it does look pretty nifty! Let the printing begin!

Liquid Ink

Oh, how i love drawing with liquid ink pens!

Doodle

I had the idea to do a doodle a day of whatever popped into my head, or if something happened during the day. So far, I've done one...
