The Comic That Wasn't...Might Be

This idea has never fully gone away and I think it just has to happen. It probably won't be for awhile but I was inspired to draw the characters again.

Here's a little peek at one from the story collection, Sadie: Cloaked in Chemicals. This quote is from Jonathan Davis and it was the perfect match for her story.

It started when I woke up, all I wanted to do is jump out of the window. I didn't want to eat anymore, because I was afraid that I might poison myself somehow.

Captain Maggot!

I was playing around with my tablet this morning and ended up with this.

It's based on this photo of Captain Maggot, a member of Emilie Autumn's Bloody Crumpets and all round spiffy lady.

Digital Drawing

I got a Wacom Intuos tablet for my birthday a few days ago and I'm loving playing around with it.

Me, an hour into using it....

After another hour, I was smitten!

It's a dream to use. Lovely response from the pen and I can create things that would usually take hours in Illustrator and wouldn't come out looking half as natural.

These were done with Manga Studio. SO glad I can finally use MS properly :)

Comic Sketchbook - Digital Download

Another book on the fine sunny day (I miss the sun!).
This is a collection of some of my comic work over the past few years. There's a lot of trial and error in these pages but there's some work I'm really proud of. It's a collection-portfolio-sketchbook hybrid. Free to download, or a donation if you're feeling kind.

Ksenia Solo portraits

I've been watching a lot of Lost Girl this week and just had to draw Kenzi. I'm a little in love with this character.

20 minute pencil portrait

Accidental Gilles Vranckx-esque portrait

Thank you, Tank me.

This was me last Halloween (ish) for the Dublin Roller Derby fancy dress party.

I made a me drawing after that party.. I like it but I also kinda don't. Mostly coz it doesn't look like me and the style went a bit weird. It's a love-hate thing. Maybe I'll just have to do another Tankie selfie...

Derby Girl Painting

This painting was my first acrylic in awhile, and first on canvas in even longer. There are mistakes. I wish I'd noticed them while the paint was still wet but I can always work over it again later and make it all pretty - but still bruised.

Daily Outfit : April 9

....yeah, I'm a little behind on posts.

This is the beginning of an idea I had for an illustrated fashion blog. This may or may not still happen, or just happen on here sporadically.

This is my non-photographed outfit of the day (OOTD), jewellery included.

Commission : 99 Pair o' Shoes

Last year I got a commission from an American musician, Shawn Coyle (Sierra Echo Charlie), to create a series of illustrations that would go with one of his songs, '99 Pair o' Shoes'. They were for one of his shoes, where they would be played as a slide show video while he played. This was a really fun project to work on and he gave me a lot of creative freedom.

These are some of the final illustrations.

Happy Free Comic Book Day! Have a Comic!

After many little edits and grumbling at my laptop, I can finally share the teaser issue of Casket Case with you lovely people. It's free to read and download, so if you enjoy it, please share. I have a lot planned for Moira, so hopefully you like this and want to read more.

For some reason I can't link it here (grumble), but it's just right beside this post in the side bar.

Enjoy!

Casket Case page

Casket Case #0 is all done and dusted! I'm just waiting on noted for final edits and everything from my editor (read: brother). It's pretty and dark and I think it looks interesting.. hopefully you do too when I get to share it.

This was the original first page of the comic. It looks really different to this now! This was two versions, main difference was colouring, which the final version has very little of. This is kinda a taster of nothing really since it's so different, but...enjoy! :)

Derby Girl Sketch

Just a little derby girl doodle. I may take a sketchbook with me to the next bout....but the games demand my attention so much! I'll work this out... anyhow, random derby girl!

Girl Parts Cast : the Girls

Girls Parts is no longer a project I'm currently working on. Maybe someday... but right now it involves a lot I'd rather not have to thing/write/draw about. At least I have these beautiful characters that may pop up again in the future :)

Emilie Autumn : OFIFOTO

I did this last year during Octocon for myself. I wanted a nice daily reminder to hand on the wall (coz the one tattooed on my art just wasn't enough?). I also never hung it on my wall...but I will now that I've shamed myself enough.

Emilie looks a little Poison Ivy here with the Uma hair but it's a style she's rocked before. I like this patchwork heart that I started to use for my signature around then too. That's something that's always given me trouble, signing my work with style. This may stick around or be re-worked into something even better :)

Sketches from Photos

Last year I had used some photos for body reference. I like the way they turned out.

Personal Sketches : Frida Tattoo

It's my birthday soon and I'd love to celebrate with a new tattoo. So, there's been many ideas and some doodling. This is one I'm pretty happy with, a hamsa tied in with Frida Kahlo - two ideas I'd been toying around with for awhile. Plus it's full of other little things and elements - eye of protection, flower, ankh, skull, day of the dead. The colours aren't close to what I'd like but I was just seeing how it worked with colour in general. I have a few other ideas still to choose from too. I should get drawing those too!

Lost Alt Girls (NSFW)

Last year I did a series of alt girl paintings. These are two that I misplaced - one of which I never finished. I missed my Scarab lady, at least she was lost in a lovely folder and not crumpled somewhere... I must go back and do some more of these sometime.

Life Drawing Class Leftovers

I found some old drawings from life drawing class last year. I liked these ones so I thought I'd share.

Be brave and be bold

I was having a bad day and decided to create something inspirational to hang on my wall. I picked out those that had given me strength and taught me different things. I chose Emilie Autumn, Amanda Palmer, Frida Kahlo, Dame Darcy and Jonathan Davis, all for different reasons. The overarching reason being that they had helped make me stronger in some way. The hi-res image and a more rambling description can be seen on my dA.

It was inked with Copic liners and coloured with watercolour. It came out pretty bright and vivid, which I wasn't expecting but it lives up to the title.
